iPhone's launch gives Apple's Steve Jobs butterflies
The iPhone — a combination widescreen iPod, cellphone and pocket Internet device — goes on sale Friday, 6 p.m. at Apple's 164 stores and nearly 1,800 AT&T stores. Apple will limited it’s purchases to two per customer.
Apple will take orders at its website, but not AT&T. If you're an AT&T customer in North Dakota and parts of Montana, Idaho and Maine, where AT&T has few stores and Apple has none, stick with Apple's website.
The phones cost $499 or $599, in addition to a two-year AT&T contract that starts at $59.99 a month
Since the launch of this product iPhone's was priced at $499 for 4 GB of storage space and $599 for 8 GB. In September 2007, Apple announced that it was lowering the price of the 8 GB model to $399 and but it would continue to sell the 4-GB model while supplies lasted.
Even with the price drop, the iPhone is still considered to be more expensive than many, other smartphones. Since Apple consists of three separate devices such as the phone, an iPod and an Internet access device so it cost at least $499, if purchased separately.
Moreover, the days after the release Consumer-rights advocates also criticized the cost of the iPhone's battery replacement program.

Apple’ iPhone launch
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IPhone
In year 2007 Apple Inc launched their newest product known as “iPhone”.
iPhone is a revolutionary new mobile phone which is an Internet-enabled multimedia mobile phone; it contain’s multi-touch screen with virtual keyboard and buttons. The iPhone's functions include all the options a customer would seek in their Hi-Fi phone like, camera phone, a portable media player (iPod), and in addition, text messaging and visual voicemail.
Apple’s iPhone also allows their users call conferencing, call holding, call merging, caller ID, and integration with other cellular network features and iPhone functions. For instance, a playing song fades out when the user receives a call. Once the call is ended the music fades back in and you enjoy it. However, Voice dialing is not supported by the iPhone.
In addition, iPhone consists of a visual voicemail feature which enables the customers to view a list of current voicemail messages on-screen without having to call into their voicemail. Unlike most other systems, messages can be listened to and erased in a non-chronological order by selecting any message from an on-screen list. AT&T, O2, T-Mobile and Orange customized their voicemail infrastructure to accommodate this new feature designed by Apple.
The iPhone was introduced in the United States on June 29, 2007 with much media frenzy, in the United Kingdom, Germany and France in November 2007, and in Ireland and Austria in March 2008.
According to Time Magazine Apple’s iPhone was recognized as the Invention of the year in 2007. In future a newer and improved version of iPhone is expected to be launched in 2008 which will be capable of operating on faster 3G cellular networks.
